This week's Wedding Tip Tuesday is all about the wedding planning timeline. Once you get engaged you realize there is so much to do and it can be very overwhelming! You may know the basics of what you need to plan first, but everything after can get lost and pushed off till the last minute. By creating a timeline with due dates it will help you stay organized, on track and most importantly relaxed. I highly recommend making due dates on your calendar and really sticking to them. It will make everything so much easier towards the end. Most couples are engaged for 9-12 months, so that it was I have based this off of, but you can utilize it no matter what your date. Here is my overall wedding planning timeline and tasks!

9-12 Months

  1. Pick a date!
  2. Talk budget + guest list
  3. Book Venue, Planner, Photographer

6-9 Months

  1. Take engagement photos
  2. Buy wedding dress
  3. Book DJ/Band, Florist, Caterer (9 month mark)
  4. Finalize guest list
  5. Reserve hotel/transportation
  6. Book/plan honeymoon
  7. Nail down wedding style/decor
  8. Wedding Cake
  9. Reserve any rental items: linens, tables, chairs, lighting, decor, etc.

3-6 Months

  1. Send save the dates (5-6 month mark)
  2. Book hair & make up artist
  3. Create wedding registry
  4. Touch base with vendors to see if they need anything
  5. Order Groom + groomsmen attire
  6. Schedule dress fitting
  7. Order invitations
  8. Buy wedding bands

2 Months

  1. Send invitations
  2. Finalize details with all vendors (venue, DJ, florist, caterer/cake, ceremony, reception, hair & make up, photographer, rentals, transportation etc.)
  3. Book rehearsal dinner venue
  4. Decide something blue, borrowed, old and new
  5. Apply for marriage license

1 Month

  1. Follow up with guest about RSVP
  2. Clean wedding rings
  3. Pick up marriage license
  4. Choose people to be in charge the day of

Post Wedding

  1. Return rentals (tables, chairs, suits/tuxes, etc.)
  2. Get wedding dress cleaned/preserved
  3. Send thank you cards
  4. Order prints
