Day 5 This was definitely a day of recovery. I started coming down with a cold, so I went to class and then had a reading and Netflix night :) We have been going non stop for two weeks and it was so nice to just sit and relax for a day.
For class we took a trip to town and went to the post office where one of the rebellions started. The Irish were fighting the British for freedom and at the post office battle the Irish were quickly out numbered and fled down the street. We visited the memorial site where they were captured that day and taken to Kilmainham Gaol to be executed. This battle kick started the rebellion and really got the Irish fired up.
After that a group of us headed to a little pastry shop called Queen of Tarts and it was ah-mazing! The best tarts I've ever had. Hands down. That's one thing I am going to miss so much here is all the delicious pastries :)
I was still feeling a little sick so after Queen of Tarts I went to do a little shopping to replace my awful boots...read about what happen to my boots here! Then is was home to get some rest.
Guinness factory! It was a self guided tour and it was so cool! That had multiple floors and you started at the bottom and made your way up reading about how Guinness is made and then they teach you the proper drinking technique to get the best of out the Guinness...it was still gross ;) Once you finished the tour you got to redeem your ticket for a free pint. We are at the very top in this glass circle that overlooked the entire city..it was so awesome! I did my part and took some photos with my Guinness had a sip and then handed it to one of the guys LOL. I am not a beer drinker at all. Period. I've tried so many and they all taste the same...gross! Even though I didn't drink my beer it was such a cool experience.
